Still waiting

Still around, me still here.

It is the 16th December 2007 at 7.51am on a cheerful Sunday morning. I have not gone into labour yet, she is still inside me and I cannot get to sleep.

Due to my twisted hip, it indeed posed many inconvenience and discomfort for me during the last few days. Fortunately it seems to be getting better, I was finally out and about in the malls yesterday. Headed down to Bugis Junction to sign up for the Singnet broadband for my new place before I go into labour, to secure my ability to surf and blog after I discharge from hospital. But due to the overwhelming response, my connection will only be activated on the 28th December 2007. Currently I am using Starhub cable connection, but cable connections has become more and more of a rabbit and tortoise race just that in this story, the tortoise never win.

After which we went to shop for bed side lamps and chests of drawers for the new house. It was a fulfilling Saturday as we managed to get them very close to our requirements and also at a very low price. Wanted to load in more shelves and storage spaces as we really have too much belongings.

Following that we ended our night with a rewarding movie, The Warlords, staring Andy Lau, Jet Li and Takeshi Kaneshiro. I really enjoyed the movie, I mean who wouldn't, with 3 major stars of the century and one super duper charming man in the universe (which I deem he is), the movie was never a bore at any single moment. Kudos to their fantastic performance!

I presumed this will be the last movie I watched before I go into labour. Jeff said I should be the most "Garang" pregnant women he knows to be still going around the island shopping, watching movie even when the risk of running into server contractions are high. What to do, I am not a person that will faithfully stay at home and wait for things to happen...

I should be able to go shopping again today, still have some bits and pieces of furnishing I need to get for the new house. Might catch me at Ikea!

Wish me luck for everything!

My Weekend

I had a terrible night yesterday, didn't get to sleep as my little bb girl decided to play during the wee hours of the night. She kicked and rolled non stop and boxed me like the second hand of a clock. Also by getting out of bed to the toilet didn't help in my sleep and my dumb white ass dog kept barking at the gate!

Mummy is away to 广州 this morning on a mission to help her friend's son 提亲。This is the first time she travels alone without her family members by her side. Hope she enjoys her trip and by the time she gets back she is more street smart by the double.

Took mummy out on Saturday, a day of shopping and eating. We went mall hopped that day, from Parkway Parade to Paragon to Takashimaya to Central to Riverside and stopped last at Bedok 85 market for supper. That's the convenience of being in Singapore, it's small and very accessible.

We ate at Chen Fu Ji Chinese Restaurant located at Riverside Quay. Wanted to try their very famous Golden Imperial Fried Rice and see how good it really is.

Coincidentally 3 of us wore black that day.

八宝茶。It's nice and cooling, but I only found 5 items inside it, carrots, corn, sugar cane, water chestnut and asparagus. Where are the other 3 ingredients?

金碧辉煌炒饭。 Comes in 3 sizes, small $18, medium $25 and large $36. We ordered the medium one and it is exactly 3 small servings...

This bowl cost $8++ after dividing into 3. The taste, well it is good but not fantastic if you get what I mean. Food that is good will leave a strong craving for people to go back for the 2nd time but this one... not at all. Tried once and it is enough. According to TV recommendation, they claimed that a bowl of fried rice has exactly one full size crab meat. I seriously doubt it.

麻婆豆腐。
咖啡排骨王。Jeff was extremely disappointed with this dish as there was no real coffee taste at all. It was sweet!
宫保鸡丁。Very oily, not nice....
No wonder restaurant so quiet on a Saturday night. That night, the meal cost us $120++... just for those simple dishes. Do you think it is worth visiting the 2nd time? In the end we still have to go for supper as it didn't fill our stomach at all. We ended up eating hawker food at Bedok North.

Bought a new Coach bag for weekend use. Its the BLEECKER FLAP series.

Free gift from Coach. Nice packaging, thought what it was...

Just a key chain.

Sunday went to a friend's house warming function and proceed to more shopping at AMK Hub. Caught a movie there, STARDUST. I love the movie, it was very enchanting as it has witch crafts and magics. In this 2 hours movie you get romance, action, adventure, comedy, fantasy all in this movie.
Had our dinner at Soup Restaurant, we were the last customers that night, so paisey...

We ordered 2 person set dinner, cost $48+++ Menu includes:

Olive rice. I love it! The servings was big enough to fill up 6 bowls, and the texture of the rice is soft and spongy, leaves a nice fragrance in your mouth. Very unique!

Ginseng Chicken soup. Yummy, 够味,滋补养彦。

Their signature dish, Samsui Chicken. The ginger paste taste really good, not spicy at all. Chicken meat is tender and fresh, portion is big for 2, very filling!

Fried sambal kangkong.

姜丝炒鹿肉。
Fresh cabbage to wrap the samsui chicken, another method of eating. Very crunchy!

After service charge and GST the bill comes up to about close to $70. It is more worth it then Chen Fu Ji restaurant.

Arctic Tale

The same director that brought you March of the Penguins and researchers from National Geographic, now comes another great movie about the life of Polar Bears and Walrus living in the Arctic. I am a movie fan of March of the Penguins and therefore I will definitely not miss the chance of watching Arctic Tale. If not for the great success from March of the Penguin, Arctic tale will not be on the big screen. It was film during 2005 by a group of researchers studying the lives of animals living in the Arctic. This movie is very educational, entertaining and touching, if you are an animal lover I guarantee you will love this movie like I did.

The movie is narrated by Queen Latifah as tells the story about Nanu a polar bear cub and Seela a baby walrus. I love the part when Nanu and her twin brother was playing in the snow and suddenly her twin brother fell, making a very loud Ahhhhhhhhhh sound. It was so adorable, that was my first time hearing a baby polar bear's voice.

These creature weighs 2000 over pounds, and feeds on 4000 clams. Here comes the hilarious part when digestion kicks in, the whole herd of Walrus will simultaneously farts and burps. Walrus do things in a herd, they hunt together, sleep together and .... farts together.. hahaha!

Polar Bears can be considered as kings in the Arctic. They live on ice, swim in ice-water and are quite comfortable in a blowing wind of zero degrees. They have one of the strongest senses of smell on the planet. These bears can smell the scent of a seal through three feet of ice. Amazing but true, see it for yourself.

Although they have no lethal enemies and can smell and eat anything that moves within miles, they are now being classified as endangered species in the world. What poses the threat to them? Global warming and the continued thinning and breaking up of the Arctic ice. As the ice breaks up, the bears have fewer places to roam, hunt and give birth. As their territory shrinks, they are isolated from their prey and forced to abandon their birth place and swim for miles in icy cold sea under sub-zero temperatures. In one of the scene, you will be able to see the whole herd of Walrus and Nanu swam for weeks in search of a place to hunt and rest.

Sometimes they don’t survive the swim. The above photo shows the 2 year old Nanu almost drown as she has been swimming for weeks without food and rest, fortunately she found a floating piece of ice hard enough for her to take a break before she continued her journey.

I am truly amazed and touched by Arctic Tale, do you know that Arctic may loose all their ice by the year 2040? Do support the movie and not to forget support the move on Saving Gaia. Go green.

My Weekend

I was chatting with a blog reader turned friend just now and found out that we had a number of things in common. She is a young mother of a 19 month beautiful girl and she is going to have another baby due next month. Things we have in common is that both of us are not working, she is a stay at home mother and I, a stay at home mother to be... hahaha I am glad that I could still get to know a new friend even though my social life is fast diminishing at an alarming rate, thanks to internet and MSN. Glad to know you Esther! Wish you have a smooth delivery!

Getting in love with the restaurants at Central, went there again last Saturday and this time we tasted Japanese Curry Udon, yeah Japanese curry with Udon. It was the first time for Jeff and I eating this and luckily the food did not disappoint us. Take a look at the photos of the food, we called it Japanese Laksa!Doesn't it look tasty? It does! The whole restaurant sells mainly Curry Udon with a few side dishes, that's what I call specialise.

A very kind hearted reader left a comment in my blog saying that I look prettier now, thank you. You are someone that makes my day, but then I find that you are very generous to say that, coz I really don't think so... My face is rounder, my arms are thicker, I am overall bigger... and I will carry on getting bigger by the day. Unless I look pretty being fat.... if not I wish to obtain back my figure in the fastest time once I deliver.

Jalan jalan at Clarke Quay but hurried back to the car because it was about to pour!
What should one do when the sky is pouring with rain? Head home and hide in our comfy cozy bed? Well that sounds like a good choice but it will be boring as well, therefore we went ahead to Cathay to see if we could get anymore tickets for a good movie. Wanted to watch Disney's latest production Ratatouille and lucky it was already showing at Cathay.

While waiting for the movie to start, we walked over to Plaza Singapura for some snacks at Toast Box, our choice of snacks, peanut butter toast and otah toast.

It is a fantastic movie and definitely suitable for all ages. Highly recommended if you are a great fan of colorful animation! I love the story line too, but there was a part that grossed me out and I almost puked. It was when countless of rats took over the kitchen and started messing with the food and cooking for the restaurant.... yuks! Luckily it was only fictional, I certainly don't want a bunch of rats cooking for me even if it's going to be palatable!

Oh by the way, Ratatouille is actually a vegetable stew of Provence (a region in SE France), typically consisting of eggplant, zucchini, onions, green peppers, tomatoes, and garlic, served hot or cold. Why the moive is called Ratatouille, you have to watch it find out!

Childhood memories

It was real great stuff, I mean Transformer the movie, it was extremely mood escalating throughout the 2 hours 15minutes show. Although the story line was completely different from the animation, I applause for their creativity.

Vividly remembering my childhood years waking up by 8am and sat patiently in front of the television waiting for all the cartoons. My favourite includes;

CARE BEARS,
STRAWBERRY SHORT CAKE,

SMURF,

Captain Planet,

Sesame Street

I hope Transformer will have a sequel, part II! Love it!
